There are two types of deserts, hot and cold. Hot deserts have a little rain and it is very hot in desert. They have less than 10 inches of rainfall in the year. The cold deserts have fog or snow.
Climate Temperatures in the desert change a great deal from the day to the night.In the day, the temperature can be higher than 100 degrees. For example, the Sahara Desert goes as high as 120 degrees. In the nights, the temperature drops 30 degrees or more.
Plants Most hot and dry deserts do not have very many plants. Plants need water to survive. Evergreens can survive in the desert. Cacti can also survive in the desert. These plants store water in their thick stems.
AnimalsAnimals that can survive have the ability to burrow under ground . This is beacuse they only come out in the night when it is a little cooler. You will find lizards, snakes and tortoises. Then there are small creatures like scorpions, beetles and ants. You can also find bigger animals like fennec foxes, camels and bighorn sheep.
